The Kenya Meteorological Service Authority released its daily forecast at 3 pm on Thursday, covering the period from 9 pm that night to 9 pm the following day.

Rainfall is expected across a broad swathe of the country, affecting 29 counties that include coastal, central, Rift Valley and western regions.

Specific counties listed for showers range from Lamu, Mandera and Marsabit in the north to Embu, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Murang’a in the central highlands, and from West Pokot to Bomet in the Rift Valley.

Western counties such as Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira are also included in the rain forecast.

In addition to rain, the authority warned of strong southerly to south‑easterly winds exceeding 25 knots (about 12.5 m/s) in six counties: Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Garissa, Lamu and Tana River.

Residents, especially those involved in fishing, livestock herding or open‑field work, are advised to consider the wind advisory when planning outdoor activities during the forecast window.

The outlook arrives as Kenya moves into the short‑rain season, a period that typically brings increased precipitation across many parts of the country in October and November.
