A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) military truck was involved in a crash on Nairobi’s Outer Ring Road on Thursday, 24 September, disrupting traffic along the busy corridor.

The collision occurred at about 9 am near the Shell petrol station at the Donholm/Outer Ring Road exit, where the road links Jogoo Road and Manyanja Road.

According to reports, the KDF truck struck a matatu operating on the Umoja route under the Utimo Sacco banner.

Footage showed the army vehicle’s passenger‑side door partially torn from its hinges, with several soldiers appearing trapped inside and being assisted by fellow troops.

The damaged truck remained at the scene for a period before being removed, prolonging the blockage.

Motorists travelling toward Nairobi’s Central Business District from the Allsops or Kangundo Road sides were advised to expect delays or use alternative routes.

Authorities had not released an official statement on the cause of the crash or confirmed any injuries at the time of reporting.

The KDF truck crash follows a serious collision a day earlier involving a Dreamline bus and a trailer on the Nairobi‑Mombasa Highway near Taru and Mackinnon Road, which left several passengers injured and disrupted traffic on that route.
