Kakamega Township Primary School, located in the Amalemba area of Kakamega County, is credited with shaping the early life of Senator Edwin Sifuna and a generation of county leaders.

The school earned a reputation for fierce academic competition, regularly contesting neighbouring schools such as Kakamega Primary, Matende Primary and Amalemba Primary in regional exams and quizzes.

Beyond classroom learning, the school operated a working shamba where pupils engaged in planting, weeding and harvesting maize, providing practical agricultural experience.

Former student Bashir Ahmed recalled these hands‑on sessions, noting that the agricultural lessons complemented the school’s academic rigour and left a lasting impression on alumni.

The nearby Amalemba public pitch served as a social hub where weekend football matches attracted children and adults, while also becoming an informal venue for settling disputes among students.

These combined elements—academic pressure, physical activity, and practical farm work—created a well‑rounded environment that alumni, including Senator Sifuna, still recall fondly.

While the school has evolved since those early years, its legacy as a nurturing ground for professionals and leaders remains a point of pride for Kakamega County residents.
