The I&M Foundation, in partnership with the non‑profit Help Change Lives, announced a scholarship programme that will support 211 students enrolled in 39 public universities across Kenya.
The initiative officially started in September 2026 and goes beyond covering tuition fees by also providing living stipends and digital equipment to scholars.
As part of the rollout, the beneficiaries received brand‑new laptops during a hand‑over ceremony held at the I&M Bank headquarters in Nairobi, a step aimed at narrowing the digital divide among tertiary students.
I&M Bank Kenya CEO Abdi Mohamed addressed the scholars at the ceremony, drawing on his own educational journey to stress the importance of resilience, continuous learning and mentorship.
Mohamed highlighted that the support enables students to focus on their studies and encourages them to assist others in the future.
Dorine Nalo, head of the I&M Foundation, reiterated that effective educational aid must extend beyond tuition to include resources that allow students to fully engage in learning and develop market‑relevant skills.
The programme is delivered under the Foundation’s Education and Skills Development pillar, reflecting its strategy of collaborating with specialised organisations to reach vulnerable and marginalised communities.
Funding for the scholarships is drawn from an annual endowment equal to 2 % of I&M Bank Kenya’s profit before tax, underscoring the bank’s long‑term commitment to community investment.
