I&M Bank announced a strategic partnership with technology provider Surecomp to digitise its trade‑finance operations, with the first deployment slated for Kenya before expanding to Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and Mauritius.

The bank will deploy Surecomp’s DOKA‑NG back‑office engine and the cloud‑based RIVO corporate access platform to automate complex trade workflows and give clients real‑time visibility over transactions.

Why the digital shift matters

Moving from manual, paper‑intensive processes to an integrated digital infrastructure is intended to lower operational friction and improve risk‑management and compliance capabilities.

Surecomp’s Chief Revenue Officer, Tal Weiser, said the partnership reflects a growing focus among African banks on SaaS technology to make trade finance more accessible, efficient and scalable.

The initiative aligns with regional demand for faster, more adaptable financial services as businesses expand across emerging trade corridors in East Africa and Mauritius.

Expected benefits for businesses

I&M Bank aims to shorten transaction turnaround times and reduce operational friction for corporate and SME clients operating across the region.

Head of Trade & Financial Institutions Carolyne Mulandi said faster, more adaptable banking will help customers move goods and payments efficiently as they grow into new markets.

Future steps and timeline

After the Kenyan launch, I&M Bank plans to extend the digital platform to its regional subsidiaries, supporting its broader digital strategy to modernise core operations and boost financial inclusion.
