The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has instructed every political party that intends to contest the 2027 General Election to submit the names and sample signatures of officials authorised to represent them by Thursday, 15 October 2026.
Documents must be delivered to the IEBC office at Anniversary Towers, 7th Floor, South Tower, Nairobi, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm on the deadline day.
The requirement is anchored in a gazette notice dated 20 August, which outlines procedural steps for all elective positions, including President, Senators, Members of the National Assembly, Woman Representatives, Governors and MCAs.
Beyond the authorized‑person list, parties must have their nomination rules certified by the Registrar of Political Parties by 30 October and forward those rules to the IEBC by 6 November.
Party officials who fail to meet the 15 October deadline have only one day left to organise the required paperwork before the IEBC’s cut‑off.
Additional timelines include certified membership lists due by 12 April 2027, primaries and internal dispute resolution by 8 May 2027, and campaign‑finance disclosures by 10 February 2027.
Independent candidates must resign from any party by 8 May, while presidential aspirants need signatures from at least 2,000 registered voters in a majority of counties by 24 May.
Campaign periods for presidential, senatorial and National Assembly seats will commence on 29 May 2027 and run daily from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm until 7 August 2027.
