The Kenya Meteorological Service Authority (KMSA) issued an advisory covering 24 October to 28 October 2026, warning of heavy rainfall, strong winds, large ocean waves and high temperatures in several regions.
Moderate to heavy rain exceeding 20 mm in 24 hours is expected in coastal, northeastern, highland west and east Rift Valley, central highlands including parts of Nairobi, and the southeastern lowlands.
Acting Director Edward Muriuki said the peak of the rainfall will occur between 26 October and 28 October, with intensity easing by 30 October.
He added that gusty southerly to southeasterly winds may exceed 25 knots across coastal, eastern and northern areas, and that ocean wave heights could surpass two metres on Sunday, 25 October.
High temperatures are also forecast for northern parts of the country, prompting advice to stay hydrated and limit direct sun exposure.
The advisory lists 46 counties likely to receive heavy rain, including Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit and Isiolo, among others in the western, central and highland zones.
Residents in the affected areas are urged to stay alert for flash floods, reduced visibility and possible downstream flooding even where rainfall is light.
