The Ministry of Health announced that the deadline for health facilities to migrate to the approved Health Management Information System (HMIS) has been pushed back by one month to 30 November 2026, allowing those still pending to complete the transition and prevent interruptions to services.
Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said the extension responded to requests from providers and reflected progress made in moving from the Social Health Authority (SHA) Provider Portal.
The Ministry, together with the SHA and the Digital Health Agency (DHA), confirmed that the extra month is intended to give facilities that have not yet completed the migration sufficient time to finalise the process.
All 6,427 public Level 2‑4 facilities have already migrated, achieving full coverage, while 22 of the 28 public Level 5 facilities have transitioned, representing 79 percent.
Faith‑based facilities lag behind, with only 190 of the 518 facilities (37 percent) having completed the migration, and 371 private facilities have successfully transitioned.
The Ministry warned that the SHA Provider Portal will be deactivated on 30 November, making that date the final cut‑off for migration.
Facilities that miss the deadline risk disruptions to service verification, pre‑authorisation, and claims submission and processing, which could affect timely delivery of care to SHA beneficiaries.
The DHA will continue to provide technical assistance, including HMIS onboarding, system integration, troubleshooting, user training and coordination with HMIS vendors, to support facilities during the extension period.
Facilities encountering difficulties are urged to contact the DHA helpdesk via email at [email protected] or the toll‑free line 147 for support.
The Ministry assured providers that claims already submitted through the SHA Provider Portal will continue to be processed according to existing requirements.
All facilities yet to migrate have been encouraged to take advantage of the extension and complete the transition before the 30 November deadline.
