Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced that patients will continue receiving services without interruption as the Ministry moves from the Provider Portal to the new Health Management Information System (HMIS).

All 6,427 public Level 2 to Level 4 facilities have already completed the HMIS transition, marking a major milestone toward a fully digital, paper‑less health information system.

Four public Level 5 hospitals are fully transitioned, while 23 others are at various stages; the remaining Level 5 facilities must finish by 30 October 2026.

Among the 518 contracted faith‑based facilities, 38 have completed the migration, with the rest expected to meet the October deadline.

National Level 6 institutions – Kenyatta National Hospital and Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital – are slated to finish by the end of next week, while other Level 6 facilities have until 30 October.

Private facilities with existing HMIS platforms are undergoing certification under the Digital Health Act; the Digital Health Agency has so far certified 28 platforms to standardise data and improve interoperability.

The agency will run Rapid Results Initiatives throughout October, offering technical support to private providers to accelerate compliance.

Facilities that have not yet completed the transition have been given an additional one‑month extension and are urged to seek assistance from the Digital Health Agency.

Duale stressed that the migration will not affect patient access, affirming that no one will be turned away because a facility has not finished the HMIS rollout.
