Nyamira‑born musician Henry Sagero, known as Man Pepe, was reported to have ingested a suspected poisonous chemical at his Daraja Mbili residence in Kisii town around 11 am on Tuesday, prompting an emergency response.

Kisii County Assembly Deputy Speaker Jacob Bagaka said Sagero had sent him a two‑page letter earlier that day expressing domestic frustrations and hinting at self‑harm, followed by a video showing him drinking the substance.

Bagaka mobilised people near the artist’s home who confirmed the act and arranged for Sagero to be taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for emergency care.

Sagero, a regular voice on Etaya TV and Radio, is known for songs that explore marital challenges, including a hit describing marriage as “hell”.
