Benjamin Nketsiah, who helped Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School win Ghana’s 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz, has been chosen as a member of the Homecoming Court at Michigan State University in the United States.
The announcement was posted on Instagram on Monday, 19 October 2026, while Nketsiah was completing his final year at the university.
Nketsiah studies Biochemistry and Molecular Biology within Michigan State’s College of Natural Science and Honors College, linking his academic pursuits to the campus recognition.
The Homecoming Court tradition at American universities honors students for leadership, involvement and contributions to campus life, and at MSU the court comprises selected students recognized for such service.
Homecoming week at MSU began on 5 October, providing the backdrop for Nketsiah’s selection and his expression that the moment would be a treasured memory.
Followers on social media congratulated Nketsiah, noting his progression from a celebrated Ghanaian quiz competitor to a student receiving university‑wide recognition in the United States.
The honour adds to Nketsiah’s earlier national recognition in Ghana, where the 2020 NSMQ victory raised the profile of the PRESEC team and its members.
Nketsiah thanked God, his university community and supporters in his Instagram post, ending with the MSU rallying cry “Go Green!” alongside a Ghanaian flag emoji.
