Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, Ghana’s Minister for Energy and Green Transition, is slated to speak at the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2026 conference in Dakar, Senegal, scheduled for December 1‑3.
The event, the fifth edition of the forum, is organized by Energy Capital & Power and held under the high patronage of Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, bringing together policymakers, operators and investors from the MSGBC basin.
Ghana’s participation aligns with its push for upstream investment, domestic gas monetisation and power‑sector reforms aimed at strengthening energy security and attracting capital.
Earlier in October, Jinapor announced inter‑ministerial talks to resolve land‑acquisition, compensation and financing issues for the proposed $28 billion Petroleum Hub in Jomoro, a project that includes a 300,000‑barrel‑per‑day refinery, petrochemical facilities and deep‑water ports slated for early‑2027 construction.
At African Energy Week 2026, Jinapor also disclosed $3.5 billion of upstream investment commitments for Ghana’s Jubilee, Tweneboa, Enyenra, Ntomme and Offshore Cape Three Points fields, supporting expansion and drilling to reverse declining production.
Ghana is simultaneously advancing gas‑processing capacity, reporting $500 million savings from reduced liquid‑fuel imports for electricity generation, and pursuing regional integration such as a gas‑for‑electricity swap with Nigeria via the West African Gas Pipeline.
The conference will also feature energy ministers from Senegal, Guinea‑Conakry, Algeria, Guinea‑Bissau and Mali, providing a platform for cross‑border cooperation and investment partnerships across West Africa.
