Steven Kitshoff’s professional rugby career ended after a serious neck injury during a Currie Cup match in 2024, ending a tenure that included two Rugby World Cup titles and a spell as Stormers captain.

Even before the injury, Kitshoff had begun diversifying his income, co‑founding the Bomb Squad brand with fellow Springbok Malcolm Marx, initially centred on a lager product.

The Bomb Squad name references the nickname of South Africa’s feared replacement forwards under coach Rassie Erasmus, and the brand has since broadened into meat products sold through Pick n Pay and apparel available at The Pro Shop and Mr Price Sport.

In 2026 the brand entered the golf lifestyle market via a partnership with South African label BooYaa Golf, releasing a collection that includes the Heritage Golf Shirt, Green Mamba Golf Shirt and Bombs Away Golf Hat.

Beyond Bomb Squad, Kitshoff is reported to be involved in a micro‑lending business that provides loans to salaried workers, according to the Sunday Times.

He has also taken on broadcasting commitments with SuperSport and public‑speaking engagements since hanging up his boots.

Kitshoff’s autobiography, *Kitsie: Memoir of a Bomb‑Squad Bok*, was published in 2026 and traces his journey from the Western Cape to World Cup glory, his forced retirement and his subsequent ventures.

He has said the anxiety he once felt about retirement has eased now that his post‑rugby path is clearer.
