Finch Hattons, a 17‑suite luxury tented camp inside Tsavo West National Park, lists its presidential suite at up to KSh 500,000 per night, making it one of Africa’s most expensive lodgings.

The camp joined Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Limited Edition portfolio on 1 July 2024, adding to the brand’s second Kenyan property after Mahali Mzuri in the Maasai Mara.

The presidential tent spans 200 square metres and includes a private heated plunge pool, dedicated butler and chef, separate lounge and dining areas, and exclusive use of a safari vehicle.

All published rates are fully inclusive, covering meals, drinks (excluding premium wines and spirits), twice‑daily game drives, guided bush walks and airstrip transfers.

Facilities also feature the Chyulu Spa – billed as East Africa’s largest bush spa – with a treetop infinity pool, hammam, yoga deck overlooking the Chyulu Hills and a fully equipped gym.

Entry‑level tents start at US$1,640 per night, while the flagship suite commands rates above US$3,000 after peak‑season premiums, taxes and all‑inclusive packages.

Finch Hattons is the only luxury establishment operating within Tsavo West, a reserve of more than 2 million acres, and sits on 35 hectares of wilderness.

The camp’s addition aligns with Kenya’s policy to promote high‑end, low‑volume safari tourism, highlighted by President William Ruto’s December 2025 announcement of the world’s largest rhino sanctuary and plans for five new luxury hotels in the park.

Ruto has indicated that visitors to the Tsavo West Rhino Sanctuary are expected to spend between US$500 and US$1,000 per day, with budget accommodation excluded from the protected zone.

The camp forms part of a paired circuit with Mahali Mzuri, allowing guests to fly between the Maasai Mara and Tsavo in just over an hour during high season.
