Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed arrived at President William Ruto’s Koilel Farm in Moiben constituency, Uasin Gishu county, on Tuesday, October 20, shortly after serving as chief guest at the national Mashujaa Day celebrations in Eldoret.
The leaders were photographed walking through a large steel‑framed barn that houses rows of Holstein‑type dairy cows in blue headlock stalls, with hay and feed spread across the floor.
Koilet Farm spans roughly 98 acres on the outskirts of Eldoret, about 14 km from the Eldoret‑Nakuru Highway, and combines mechanised crop production with a commercial dairy and beef operation.
Crops such as maize and vegetables are grown primarily to feed the livestock and to support chicken‑feed production, while the dairy side uses Total Mixed Ration feeding, mechanised milking and the same blue headlock stall system seen in the photographs.
The herd includes high‑yielding Friesian and Holstein‑type dairy cattle together with beef breeds such as Angus, reflecting a technology‑driven, large‑scale model that Ruto has promoted as a showcase for modern commercial agriculture in Kenya.
Ruto has previously opened the farm to media tours, positioning Koilel as an example of what commercial farming can achieve beyond the smallholder model common in the region, and Tuesday’s visit gave Abiy Ahmed a firsthand glimpse of that vision.
