Double Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge has signed a three‑year agreement to become Absa Bank Kenya’s official World Tour financial partner.
The signing ceremony took place after Kipchoge returned from Australia, where he set a new Melbourne Marathon course record of 2:09:10, his first victory at that event.
Under the deal, Kipchoge will feature in exclusive customer experiences, digital storytelling, wellness initiatives and community programmes across Absa’s Pan‑African footprint.
Absa’s Managing Director and CEO Yusuf Omari said Kipchoge’s achievements embody the bank’s purpose of helping customers realise ambitions that once seemed beyond reach, from home ownership to education and wealth growth.
Marketing and Corporate Affairs Director Mwihaki Wachira noted that the partnership aligns with Absa’s focus on youth development, entrepreneurship and community impact, echoing the bank’s tagline of ‘Empowering Africa’s tomorrow together, one story at a time.’
Kipchoge, a long‑time Absa customer, said the collaboration reflects trusted teamwork and will support his plan to run seven marathons on seven continents over the next two years.
To date, the athlete has raised $67,676 toward a $1 million target, with proceeds earmarked for the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation, which aims to give all children access to knowledge and education.
