At the launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, Edwin Sifuna said the party’s agenda will be anchored in the Constitution and focused on ordinary Kenyans.
Sifuna pledged to cut Sh500 billion from government expenditure, arguing that the savings would ease the financial burden on households.
He also announced plans to remove taxes on fuel and electricity, though no detailed implementation timeline was provided.
The movement’s leadership structure will include Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi as party chair, former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo as deputy, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi as secretary‑general and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka as treasurer.
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya will head the presidential campaign, with Faith Odhiambo as his deputy.
A National Delegates Convention is scheduled for 13 November 2026 to ratify the proposed party structures and to launch grassroots offices across the country before the end of the month.
Sifuna criticised current government spending on food, entertainment and alleged waste, citing figures of Sh1.8 billion and Sh12 billion without specifying the exact items.
He called for a government that respects human rights and equality, questioning the treatment of citizens whose rights have been violated.
Sifuna thanked leaders who offered alternative platforms, including Babu Owino, Kawira Mwangaza and members of The Equitable Party, and noted engagements with opposition figures Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka.
