Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba released a gazette notice dated 2 October appointing new members and renewing terms on the governing councils of six public universities as part of the ministry’s governance drive.

Evelyne Kyendo was appointed to the Turkana University College Council for a three‑year term, with the appointment taking effect immediately.

Lazarus Kipichii Tanui was named to the Machakos University Council for a three‑year term, while Mercy Kanyara’s earlier appointment to the same council was revoked on the same day.

Mercy Kanyara was subsequently appointed to the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology Council for a fresh three‑year term, effective 2 October.

Wilson Kipruto Ronno secured a three‑year seat on the Kenyatta University Council, also with immediate effect.

John Kamanga Ole Ntetiyan’s tenure on the Koitaleel Samoei University College Council was renewed for another three years.

AbdiHakim Guhad Gabow joined the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology Council for a three‑year term, completing the list of six institutions affected by the reshuffle.

The notice cites section 36(1)(d) of the Universities Act as the legal basis for the appointments.

The Education Ministry described the changes as part of broader efforts to reorganise university council leadership across the sector.
