DStv announced that four pay‑TV packages – Starter, Select, Sports and Ultimate – will take effect on 5 November, with monthly fees ranging from KES 750 to KES 7,300.
The Starter tier is priced at KES 750, matching the former Lite offering, and now includes La Liga football and a weekly match highlight alongside more than 116 channels of local and international content.
Select, aimed at families, costs KES 1,500 and provides news, movies, series and Serie A football across over 149 channels.
The Sports package is set at KES 3,000, delivering English Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, Conference League and other sports on more than 159 channels, and introduces SuperSport Swahili, the first Swahili‑language SuperSport channel.
Ultimate, the premium tier, will cost KES 7,300 and covers Formula 1, MotoGP, rugby, tennis and golf on over 180 channels, representing a reduction of roughly KES 4,400 from the KES 11,700 price listed for the previous Premium package.
The price cut for the top tier is described as “almost 40 %”, reflecting DStv’s effort to retain subscribers after an 8.3 % decline in decoder numbers from the end of 2025 to March 2026.
Why DStv is reshaping its Kenya offering
The company attributes the redesign to subscriber churn, noting that its decoder base fell from 270,503 at the end of 2025 to 248,053 by March 2026, the largest absolute loss among Kenyan pay‑TV operators.
Despite the decline, the Communications Authority reported a rebound to 259,047 DStv subscriptions, 37.2 % above the previous year, while the overall market slipped 1.8 % to 1.55 million households, driven by a shift to internet‑based TV and higher set‑top‑box costs.
The pricing changes follow Canal+’s acquisition of MultiChoice in September 2025, which has introduced a more uniform product structure across its global subscriber base and moved rights decisions to Paris.
Introducing a Swahili sports channel is presented as a local gesture amid broader cost‑cutting measures that have reduced regional programming input.
