The Democratic Republic of the Congo will stage the second World Music and Tourism Festival (FMMT) in Kinshasa between 8 and 10 October 2026, highlighting its musical heritage and tourism offerings.
The event is organised in partnership with UN Tourism and supported by StoryArc Africa, aiming to draw international visitors and stimulate investment through music and cultural exchange.
The announced line‑up features Congolese stars Mbilia Bel, Ferré Gola, Werrason, Sam Mangwana, Zaïko Langa Langa, Héritier Wata, Roga Roga and Meiway, following an inaugural edition that included Fally Ipupa and Kenya’s Savara Mudigi.
Beyond concerts, the festival will combine live performances with Kinshasa’s food, art and broader cultural scene, providing visitors a chance to experience the city’s traditions firsthand.
According to Didier Mazenga Mukanzu, the DRC’s Minister of Tourism, the festival is an invitation for East Africa and the world to discover Congo’s rumba, tourism sites and people.
Rumba, recognised on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2021, links Congo‑Kinshasa, Congo‑Brazzaville, Angola and the Caribbean, especially Cuba, through a shared musical history.
The festival programme also includes cultural experiences and panel discussions on copyright, digital innovation and youth participation in the creative economy, illustrating how music can drive tourism and community engagement.
