Kibra‑based Darajani Gogo FC lodged a judicial review application in the High Court to contest its relegation from the National Super League for the 2026/27 season, alleging inconsistent application of FKF competition rules.

The club, represented by patron Dr Ahmed Kalebi and lawyer Ilham Hisham Said, says FKF used the 2019 framework to set a promotion playoff while applying the September 2025 restructuring criteria to relegate four NSL clubs.

Darajani Gogo finished 17th out of 20 in the 2025/26 NSL season; under the 2019 rules only the bottom three teams would have been relegated, which would have kept the club in the second tier.

The club is requesting three orders: a certiorari to overturn the relegation decision, a mandamus to require FKF to reinstate it on the NSL schedule using the 2019 rules, and a prohibition to stop the league from starting without the club.

It also seeks urgent interim protection, invoking the constitutional guarantee of fair administrative action under Article 47 and the Fair Administrative Action Act of 2015.

FKF’s decision to hold a two‑legged NSL‑to‑Premier League playoff between Kariobangi Sharks and Mombasa United, rather than promote teams automatically under the September 2025 criteria, is cited by the club as selective rule use.

At the same time, FKF applied the September 2025 relegation criteria to the NSL bottom, demoting four clubs instead of the three that would have been relegated under the 2019 framework.

Four Division One sides—Kibera Soccer, Kiminini Combined, Mfalme FC and Spitfire—have already earned promotion under the restructuring plan, raising questions about the final NSL composition if the court orders a reversal.

Despite pursuing legal action, Darajani Gogo’s statement says the club remains open to dialogue with FKF to reach an amicable settlement.
