Georgie Mokuasi, a Kenyan truck driver living in Dallas, Texas, co‑founded the catering firm Steppa Cuisine in 2018 to serve Kenyan rugby players missing home flavours.

The venture began as informal meals for players but expanded to events across the United States, eventually taking Mokuasi to France and Kenya for the HSBC Sevens tournament.

In 2024 spectators at a rugby event began calling him "Ugali Man"; rather than reject the teasing, Mokuasi adopted the nickname as his brand identity.

The re‑branding coincided with a major equipment purchase, including a commercial smoker valued at roughly KSh645,000, which has become a visual hallmark of the business.

Steppa Cuisine now employs about six people, a milestone Mokuasi cites as a key achievement of the growing operation.

Balancing a full‑time trucking schedule with weekend catering, Mokuasi attributes his progress to family support, faith and determination.

Looking ahead, he plans to launch a dedicated "Ugali Man" food truck to give the brand a permanent, mobile presence at Kenyan gatherings and cultural events.

Mokuasi says the food he serves serves more than appetite; it creates a communal space for Kenyans abroad and introduces the cuisine to new audiences.
