Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) published a set of ten tips aimed at helping foreigners navigate the citizenship and immigration application process.

Applicants are urged to submit forms online wherever possible, allowing the digital system to verify completeness before final submission.

Every question on the application must be answered; if a question does not apply, the applicant should write “N/A” rather than leave it blank.

IRCC recommends using the downloadable document checklist for each programme and requires that any document not in English or French be translated by a certified translator before submission.

Applicants should avoid sending more documents than required and retain original copies where only copies are requested.

Photographs must meet the published specifications, and applicants are advised to bring the official instructions to the photographer and verify the photos before sending them.

A crucial requirement is the declaration of all family members in the application, even those who will not travel to Canada.

IRCC also stresses the need for a regularly monitored email address and a complete, accurate mailing address throughout the process.

Before submission, all required signatures must be dated, and the correct fees must be paid using the approved payment method.

If IRCC requests additional information at any stage, applicants must respond before the stated deadline to avoid processing delays.

The authority warned that errors or omissions in applications could significantly slow down processing times.
