Bolt organised an awards ceremony at the Nairobi Driver Engagement Centre, recognising the highest‑performing car drivers and boda boda riders from Nairobi and Mombasa who have been active on the platform for at least six months.

Awardees received fuel vouchers, vehicle‑service vouchers and tyre replacements, and the week‑long driver engagement activities also provided complimentary breakfast, branded T‑shirts and reflector vests.

Senior Operations Manager Arthur Gacharia said the awards aim to recognise the time, effort and responsibility drivers invest in each journey, underscoring their role in keeping Kenyan cities moving.

The initiative comes as Kenya’s ride‑hailing sector grapples with rising operating costs, road‑safety concerns and evolving regulatory developments.

As part of its road‑safety push, Bolt partnered with the Kenya Red Cross to train 75 boda boda riders in first‑aid and emergency response over the past year, with the programme being monitored for impact and possible expansion.

Bolt also works with M‑KOPA to help drivers switch to electric motorcycles, offering lower upfront financing and reduced running costs; the company notes that seven in ten electric vehicles on its Kenyan platform are now electric.

The company has engaged driver representatives, policymakers and regulators on issues affecting the ride‑hailing sector.

Recognised driver Samson Ouma thanked Bolt for the recognition, saying the support motivates drivers to maintain high ratings and deliver reliable service.
