Bamburi Cement Plc received three recognitions at the Automobile Association of Kenya (AA Kenya) Kenya Road Safety Excellence Awards 2026, highlighting its driver welfare and transport safety programmes.
The ceremony was held at Nairobi’s Serena Hotel and was organised in partnership with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).
Supply Chain Director Mohamed Kassim said the accolades reflect the collective effort of the company’s staff and its network of transport partners in fostering a strong road‑safety culture.
Bamburi Cement won the Driver Safety and Wellness Award for its driver safety and welfare system, which includes a Digital Driver Pass, an In‑Vehicle Monitoring System, a ban on night driving and audited defensive‑driving training.
The firm placed second in the Best Corporate in Road Safety category, recognising a transport safety management programme that extends beyond its own fleet to more than 1,000 drivers and over 25 transport partners.
It also secured second place in the Road Safety Innovation Award for its Transporter Safety Maturity Audit Tool, a weighted scoring system that assesses transporters across five safety pillars and has been applied to sixteen transporters and several rail operators.
The awards programme recognises individuals, organisations and institutions that demonstrate measurable impact, collaboration and innovation in improving road safety across Kenya.
