Airtel Money Kenya, together with ChildFund, has begun construction of classrooms, toilets and water facilities valued at Sh37 million at Marigat Integrated Day and Boarding Primary School and Marigat Special School for the Visually Impaired in Baringo County.

The development will deliver 13 classrooms, 29 toilets, an ICT lab, a renovated library, a boys’ dormitory and a 30‑point handwashing station, along with extended water pipelines, solar‑powered pumps and storage tanks.

Disability‑friendly, gender‑separated toilets are included to improve access for children with special needs.

Airtel Money Kenya acting managing director Bonke Michael said the initiative aims to remove practical barriers so learners can focus on education.

Airtel Kenya managing director Djibril Tobe added that the schools will receive devices and internet connectivity to support digital learning.

ChildFund’s programmes and sponsorship director Eric Oyoo highlighted that the investment will help remove barriers that keep children with disabilities out of school.

The Marigat project is part of a broader partnership targeting more than 2,000 learners across four public schools in Baringo, Wajir and Garissa counties, including Garissa School for the Deaf and Catholic Integrated Primary and Junior School in Wajir.

Baringo County, where the schools are located, is largely arid; the county government aims to raise average water access to 52 percent by the end of 2027.
