Absa Bank Kenya has integrated investment options into its Absa Next mobile platform, allowing users to invest in professionally managed unit‑trust funds directly from their phones.

The service is open to both retail customers and entrepreneurs, with a minimum entry amount of Ksh 1,000, removing the need for a branch visit.

Available funds cover a spectrum of risk and horizon preferences, including the Absa Balanced Fund, Shilling and Dollar Money Market Funds, Fixed Income Fund and Equity Fund.

The Absa Equity Fund has posted year‑to‑date returns of up to 15.95%, though it recorded short‑term declines of 4.13% over one month and 0.80% over three months.

Moses Muthui, director of Personal and Private Banking at Absa Bank Kenya, said the rollout supports the bank’s inclusive wealth‑creation agenda.

Through the app, users can open investment accounts end‑to‑end, link existing unit‑trust portfolios, set goal‑based allocations, top up, and monitor performance in real time.

The platform also enables instant liquidity for qualifying redemptions from the Shilling Money Market Fund, with proceeds transferred to an Absa digital wallet.

Since its launch in September 2026, Absa Next has attracted over 300,000 users, offering digital savings, instant credit, bill payments and expense‑splitting alongside the new investment service.

The application is available on iOS and Android and can be used by existing Absa customers as well as non‑Absa clients, distinguishing it from traditional proprietary banking portals.
