The Co-operative Bank of Kenya has once again demonstrated its commitment to community growth and faith-based development by supporting Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) in its ambitious Together in Generosity (TIG) campaign. The initiative seeks to construct 24 new church assemblies across Kenya, expanding CITAM’s mission of spiritual nourishment and social transformation.
During a colourful ceremony held at CITAM Karen, Mr. Bernard Osoro, Co-op Bank’s Head of Institutional Banking, officially presented a sponsorship cheque of KSh 1.5 million to Rev. Dr. Karita Mbagara, Senior Pastor of CITAM Karen, in the presence of church leaders and congregants.
The contribution marks another chapter in Co-op Bank’s long-standing collaboration with faith-based institutions, particularly those driving positive change in education, moral values, and community development.
“At Co-operative Bank, we believe that faith-based organisations play a vital role in shaping not just spiritual lives, but also in advancing social welfare and national unity,” said Mr. Osoro. “Our support to CITAM’s Together in Generosity campaign is a reflection of our shared belief in service, generosity, and building a better Kenya for future generations.”
Building Faith and Strengthening Communities
The Together in Generosity (TIG) campaign was launched by CITAM earlier this year with the goal of mobilising believers and well-wishers to contribute towards building 24 new sanctuaries across various counties. These churches will serve as spiritual homes and community centres offering education, counselling, youth mentorship, and humanitarian outreach programs.
Rev. Dr. Karita Mbagara welcomed the donation, noting that partnerships like this reinforce the power of collaboration between the church and corporate sector in nation-building.
“We are deeply grateful to Co-operative Bank for walking with us in this journey of faith and service,” said Dr. Mbagara. “Our Together in Generosity campaign is not just about buildings; it is about transforming lives, bringing hope to communities, and spreading the gospel through action.”
He added that the new church assemblies will be strategically located in both urban and rural areas to ensure accessibility and inclusivity in worship and community outreach.
Faith and Finance Working Together
Co-op Bank’s relationship with faith-based organisations dates back decades, anchored in the belief that strong communities make strong economies. Through its Institutional Banking Division, the bank continues to provide customised financial solutions for churches, schools, NGOs, and other institutions that serve the public good.
Beyond sponsorships, Co-op Bank has been instrumental in helping churches establish income-generating projects, improve financial management, and digitise offerings through platforms such as Co-opPay, MCo-opCash, and Co-op Internet Banking.
The bank’s support to CITAM is seen as a continuation of its broader mission to promote sustainable community growth through faith-inspired initiatives.
“Our work with institutions like CITAM reminds us that development is not just about money it’s about people, purpose, and progress,” noted Mr. Osoro. “We are honoured to play a small role in the bigger vision that CITAM is driving.”
A Legacy of Generosity and Hope
Founded in 1959, Christ is the Answer Ministries has grown into one of Kenya’s most influential Christian organisations, with a nationwide presence and an expanding global outreach. The ministry runs numerous programs in education, media, social services, and humanitarian support.
Through the Together in Generosity initiative, CITAM aims to mobilise resources to complete ongoing construction projects, acquire new land for future assemblies, and strengthen its community development arms, including schools, children’s homes, and rehabilitation programs.
The campaign has already drawn support from both local congregations and corporate partners, all united by a shared vision of extending the church’s reach to more people across Kenya.
Faith in Action
Co-operative Bank’s contribution to the campaign underscores its growing role as a socially conscious financial institution that invests in both economic and moral capital. The bank’s leadership has consistently emphasised that true progress must balance financial inclusion with social responsibility.
As the country grapples with economic uncertainty and moral challenges, partnerships like that between Co-op Bank and CITAM send a strong message of hope — that generosity, when shared, multiplies impact.

“The essence of generosity is not in how much one gives, but in how many lives that giving can change,” said Rev. Mbagara during the handover ceremony. “This partnership with Co-operative Bank will go a long way in ensuring that many more people find spiritual homes and access the support they need.”
A Shared Vision for the Future
The presentation at CITAM Karen was attended by church members, Co-op Bank representatives, and local community leaders. The event concluded with a prayer of dedication for the new assemblies and a commitment to continue working together in transforming communities through faith, service, and generosity.
As the Together in Generosity campaign continues, Co-op Bank’s support stands as a testament to the power of partnership proving that when institutions unite behind a common goal, faith truly moves from promise to practice.
